Marc-Anthony Colon

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

Marc-Anthony Colon was born and raised on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands . He graduated from the St.Croix Educational Complex High School with honors in the year 2016. After completing high school, he started his college journey locally and now is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Aviation Management.

Marc-Anthony grew up watching airplanes fly overhead daily, yet he never envisioned himself being a pilot. While in high school he joined the Virgin Islands Chapter Tuskegee Airmen Inc., where he learned of the possibilities of being involved in aviation. This allowed him to experience aviation and join more programs such as the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals. He started out wanting to become an A&P mechanic, but once he took his first flight at the controls in 2014, he devoted his interests to becoming a pilot. He earned his private pilot certification through  Tuskegee NEXT in the summer of 2019.

Marc-Anthony was accepted to the foundation in May 2021 and began training in August 2021. He is currently working on his instrument rating which he says, “Has been an exciting challenge.”Marc-Anthony has goals to earn his commercial and instructor certificates so that he can give back to the Red Tail Scholarship Foundation as a way to pay it forward. Long term goals for him are to make it to an airline for experience and eventually own his own aviation company. He has hopes to one day be able to provide for others similar to how the foundation has provided for him and to keep the Tuskegee Airmen legacy alive.
