James Simmon

Atlanta, GA

James Simmon was born in Los Angeles, California and at the age of 8 years old, his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. James and his father were fortunate enough to encounter an African American pilot who personally showed them the cockpit of a Boeing 777. This specific moment ignited a passion for aviation that influenced James to begin his flight training at the age of 12 at Fulton County Airport with Aviation Career Enrichment, Inc (ACE).

James graduated from Drew Charter School in 2019 as a member of the robotics club. While in High School, James earned his Private Pilot’s License with Tuskegee Next, and he also secured a recurring internship with Epps Aviation from 2017 to 2019. He currently attends Middle Georgia State University as a Business Aviation Administration major while simultaneously working towards his instrument rating with RTSF.

In his spare time, James frequently volunteers with Atlanta’s Food Kitchen and he also is a drone pilot at Kids Drone Zone. In the future, James has always envisioned himself as a commercial pilot with Delta Airlines.
