Pensacola, FL
DeAndre Williams is an undergraduate student at Tuskegee University majoring in mechanical engineering. Although he calls Florida home he has been blessed to live his formative and teenage years abroad. With those experiences it has given him an appreciation of other cultures and worldview. Hailing from a military family background, DeAndre is currently an Air Force ROTC cadet pursuing to earn his commission and being the first officer in his family. Following in his mother and grandfather's footsteps of service in the Air Force he hopes to make a meaningful change of his own.
One of the earliest lessons in his life that his grandmother taught him was the importance of education in today's world. She also emphasized the importance of always progressing and to never stop learning new things. During a trip to Naval Air Station aviation flight museum he knew then he wanted to fly and a spark began. Although he had planned life differently he finds is grateful and fortunate that path set him towards Tuskegee where he met members of the RTSF.
Currently DeAndre is working on earning his private pilot. One of his career goals is to have the opportunity to fly C-17 in the Air Force. The major joy he takes with being a part of the RTSF is the opportunity to be surrounded by other African Americans striving to fly and building long-term connections. Believing deeply in his personal motto of “take what you love, apply it, and most importantly build on it.”.
