Cameron McDonald
Birmingham, AL
Cameron McDonald is an aspiring pilot born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Shades Valley High School where he was accepted into the Business and Finance Academy. First attending Tennessee State University, then transferring to Middle Georgia State University, he is currently majoring in Aviation Management and Science with a minor in business. While attending his sophomore year at Middle Georgia State University, he was introduced to the Red Tails Scholarship Foundation and was accepted to start his journey as a professional pilot.
As a young child, Cameron was introduced into the aviation world when him, and his grandparents would go out to Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport, and watch the airplanes takeoff, and land. He knew then what he wanted to do as a career, and it became clear that he wanted to become a professional pilot. Unlike many others at a young age, he knew what he wanted to do as a career and stuck to it. During his high school years, he volunteered at the Southern Museum of Flight, where he enjoyed helping and teaching younger kids about aviation. Not only that it gave him the opportunity to meet and network with other pilots. With the encouragement and support from his family, and a strong passion for aviation he continues to reach his dream/goals.
Currently Cameron is training to receive his private pilot license, and then he will be working towards getting his instrument ratings. His end goal is to become either an airline or cargo pilot. He also strives to give back to the community, and help introduce young minorities to the aviation industry, and to help others pursue their dreams in aviation.
